Spring 2008 semester

A series of instructional vodcasts focusing on basic usage of the Library website and related resources. Spring semester sessions will include: navigating the library website, searching the library catalog (a two-part session), using the subscription databases and a tutorial on our premier, multi-disciplinary database, Academic Search Complete. This series of broadcasts were designed to introduce students to the many resources available through the Harper Library website and each vodcast explains how to access and utilize them.

Subscription Databases

This tutorial shows students how to access the library's subscription databases and how to decide which database is best suited to their research needs.

Navigating the Library Website

Learn how to make the most of the resources available on the library website.

Academic Search Complete

The world's largest academic, multi-disciplinary database. This database provides full-text articles for more than 4,000 scholarly publications and is an excellent starting point for any research.

Fall 2007 semester

A series of instructional vodcasts focusing on the persuasive speech or essay. Each vodcast will introduce students to a specific resource available for this type of assignment via the Harper College Library website. We will show you how to access the resource and effectively search for information within the resource.

CQ Researcher

A weekly publication which takes an in-depth look at one current, very controversial issue.

Opposing Viewpoints

A book series on current-issue studies. There are volumes in this series covering every controversial contemporary topic imaginable. Each title looks at a specific issue by presenting expert opinions in a pro/con format.

World News Digest

A concise, comprehensive record of world events since 1940. Presents news information from major newspapers and news magazines from around the world.
