Using Blackboard: Change Your Password

male student typing on a notebook computer keyboard

Blackboard assigns each student an initial password. It's a good idea to change the password to a value that you can easily remember. You may want to change your Blackboard password so that it is the same as the password you use with your Harper Student Portal.

It's recommended by a leading computer software vendor to use a combination of at least eight letters, numbers, and symbols in your password. The steps below describes how to change your password in Blackboard.

  1. Visit http://harper.blackboard.com.

  2. Click on the User Login button.

    User Login

  3. Enter your User Name and Password.

  4. Click on the Personal Information link located below
    the “Welcome” message.

  5. Next, click on the Change Password link.

  6. After you enter your new password in each text box, click on the Submit button to save your changes.

    Enter new passwords

  7. Click on the OK button at the end of the next two messages to return to your
    course.

Note: Changing your password once changes it for all your Blackboard course sites.
