This tutorial demonstrates using the Blackboard discussion board. The discussion board is a place to commuincate with your instructor and fellow students.

Many Blackboard course sites contain a direct link to the discussion board in the left-side navigation.

In other sites, you'll see a link for "Communication".

In this course, we'll select "Discussion Board".

Select the forum you want to enter by clicking on its title.
The forum messages display. To view a message, click on the subject of the message.

Click the reply button to respond.



Type your message.

When you are done, click the "Submit" button.
Your message is displayed in the forum for your instructor and classmates to read.
Click on the subject of your message.
Your message displays.

Adding a New Thread

Sometimes your instructor will ask you to post a new thread to the discussion forum.

A thread is a series of messages that have been posted as replies to each other.

Select the forum.

Click the "Add New Thread" button.

Type your subject and message.
Then click the "Submit" button as previously demonstrated.

Your thread appears in the forum.
