Disable Your Pop-Up Blocker

If you don't see a pop-up window display when you view this page, then your pop-up blocker is enabled.

When a pop-up blocker is enabled, it means that pop-up windows will be blocked when you access various web pages in your online course. This feature of your computer must be turned OFF so that the windows are able to pop up.

There are many types of pop-up blockers that may be operating on your machine, especially if you download files from the Internet. Pop-up blockers are sometimes included with downloads you choose, without you knowing it. The following instructions will help you turn off the pop-up blockers that are connected to your browser. You may need to search for other pop-up blockers, such as ones in Google Toolbars, Yahoo Toolbars, and others.

Please disable ALL pop-up blockers (including Norton) that might be turned on OR set your pop-up blocker to not function when accessing any of the following domain names:

  • goforward.harpercollege.edu
  • my.harpercollege.edu/cp/home/loginf
  • harper.blackboard.com

Windows Operating System

 

 Firefox 3+

  • With Firefox opened, click the Tools pull down menu.
  • Pull down to the Options selection.
  • In the Options window, select the Content link.
  • look for Block Pop-up Windows.
  • If the box next to this phrase is check marked, click the box to remove the check mark.

Internet Explorer 7+

  • With Explorer opened, click the Tools pull down menu.
  • Pull down to the Internet Options selection.
  • In the advanced tab, look for an item labeled Java.
  • Click on the box next to this phrase if it doesn't already have check mark in it.

Safari 3+

  • With Safari opened, click the Edit pull down menu.
  • If the Block pop up selection is checked, select it.
  • The check mark next to this menu item should disappear.

Macintosh Operating System

 

Firefox 3+

  • With Firefox opened, click the Firefox pull down menu.
  • Pull down to the Preferences selection.
  • Click the tab at the top of the window labeled Content.
  • If the box is checked, Click the box next to Block pop-up windows to remove the check mark.

Safari
  • With Safari opened, click the Safari pull down menu.
  • Pull down to the Preferences selection.
  • In the Security tab, locate Web Content.
  • If the box next to Block Popup Windows has a check mark in it, click the box to make the mark disappear.
